This little section here beside the interface can be used for special announcements! You shouldn't make them more than about 10 lines, otherwise it might make the page look a little strange.

 

Instructions

These are the font settings for customising the navigation buttons and title in this layout. If you wish to use the existing images, you are free to do so. The settings specified are specifically for Adobe Photoshop, but should be similar for most graphics software.

Please note that font sizes are in pixels NOT points.

Within the "blanks" folder of the zipfile, you will find a blank title graphic (title.jpg) and blank button graphics which you can add your own text to. The font used is Tolkien! (included in zipfile).

The title:

• font size - 23 pixels
• font colour - white (#FFFFFF)
• effects - drop shadow with the following settings:

  Colour - black (#000000)
  opacity - 75%
  spread - 0
  size - 3
  distance - 3

The buttons:

• font size - 16 pixels
• font colour - white (#FFFFFF)
• effects - drop shadow as on title

You need to add your text to both the non-rollover and rollover versions of the balnk buttons.

Saving the images

After customising the blank images you should save the buttons and title as jpgs at a quality of around 70%. This will reduce the file size without affecting the quality too much.

Rollover buttons should be saved with the suffix "-over" eg the rollover for button1.gif should be saved as button1-over.gif. In all other cases the buttons and title should not be renamed, otherwise you will need to change the filenames in the HTML.

The images should be saved to the "images" folder and NOT to the "blanks" folder. You should keep a copy of the blank images in case you need to change them later on.

The style sheet

This layout is linked to a style sheet (sk_styles.css) which controls the appearance of the text and links. This file needs to be uploaded to your website with the rest of the files, otherwise your website may give error messages with some browsers. If you are familiar with css, feel free to edit the style sheet all you want.

• DO NOT alter any of the graphics or html files in the layouts except to add your own text. Should you wish any changes made to the layout or graphics, you can hire me to do so.
  
• DO NOT redistribute the layouts or associated files, or include the them in any collections, either online or offline.
  
• Web Designers are NOT to use soulkarma linkware layouts to design a site for which they receive payment (whether monetary or in kind).
  
• Soulkarma linkware layouts are not to be used on sites which promote racism, sexism, abuse of animals or humans, or which contain any illegal or pornographic content.
  
• The only acceptable way to obtain my layouts and graphics is via the request form on my website. Complete the form and I will send you out a zipfile containing all the files you need. DO NOT link directly to the graphics. DO NOT take the graphics or html files from my website.
